A court's designation of a defendant as a persistent felony offender involves a questions of statutory interpretation. We review a trial court's interpretation of the law, including questions of statutory interpretation, to determine whether the court's interpretation is correct. State v. Montoya, 1999 MT 180, ¶ 11, 295 Mont. 288, 983 P.2d 937; State v. Damon, 2005 MT 218, ¶ 12, 328 Mont. 276, 119 P.3d 1194.
